Cinnamon Productions: Bakery Cafe
There is nothing better than starting a Saturday morning off right. On days where your typical Starbucks coffee is just not enough, I highly recommend having breakfast at Cinnamon Productions in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Cinnamon Productions in the El Paseo Plaza next to the RSM library has charm, quality food and small-town service. Cinnamon Productions offer a full menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, family seating in the spacious café or outside in the patio, and a wide assortment of baked goods.
I first came across this place since it is within walking distance of my apartment. It was the perfect place for an after dinner dessert (it took us quite awhile to narrow down what we wanted). The bakery cafe offers all desserts imaginable from cinnamon rolls to every type of cookie possible. Assortments of muffins and bread are also among the vast selection.
So whether you are trying to appease your sweet tooth, craving a hearty breakfast, or just looking for quality food for any time of day---this local bakery cafe is for you.
Personally---after a long day of meetings and business folks---the homey, small town feel while I enjoy a piece of snickers pie is just icing on the cake (they sell those too). For more information and a menu, please check out: www.cinnamon-productions.com
Friendly Squirrels at Dana Point Harbor
A friend told me about these overly friendly dudes over at Dana Point Harbor. I didn't realize just how friendly these squirrels were going to be. After having lunch at Harpoon Henry's--we boxed up our leftover french fries and headed to a little spot next to the harbor (just pass all the stores and turn left when you see the bridge. Go over the bridge and find parking on the right).
There were a few other people there that were feeding them nuts (I know...healthier than our greasy fries!) so it was pretty easy to figure out where to sit. Be warned though---the birds (especially the seagulls) can get a little jealous!
It was definitely a fun and cheap way to entertain ourselves for an hour (it was a non-pay day Friday)---just be careful that the squirrels grab the food and not your fingers! While you are down there, be sure to check out the pirate ship and tourist shops in the area. If you are feeling really adventurous (more adventurous than hand feeding squirrels), rent a jet ski or take out a paddle boat. It's summer time---spend time outdoors and have fun!
Rancho Santa Margarita Beach Club Lagoon Now Open!
Warm sunny days are one of the primary reasons that so many people are drawn to Southern California. In fact the weather is so nice the majority of the time that when it actually rains it’s a major news event. This weekend however there was not a raindrop in the sky and Rancho Santa Margarita residents were out and about in droves.
The Beach Club Lagoon opened earlier this week and many Rancho Santa Margarita families made their way over to the Lagoon to work on their tans and splash around in the water. The Lagoon, which is located at the Beach Club, immediately adjacent to Lago Santa Margarita, is a favorite for families with younger children. The Lagoon is built with a very gradual decline and a maximum depth of four feet, making it easy for parents to safely manage their little ones.
The Beach Club hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days per week. Swimming in the Lagoon is permitted within these hours except during cleaning and maintenance. The Lagoon cleaning and maintenance is currently scheduled for Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m. and Fridays at 10:00 a.m. so it is advised to plan your outings accordingly.
The Beach Club has a substantial inventory of lounge chairs - enough to surround a large portion of the Lagoon. Early in the season you can pretty much show up at any time and be fairly certain of being able to score a seat. As more and more people realize that the Lagoon is open, and as the weather starts to get warmer and warmer, you may wish to consider bringing your beach chair.
